We are in BIG trouble...

All the baby books and advice you read on the internet tell you to talk to your baby, even just narrating what you are doing. When Ashley was a baby, I had a hard time with this. I just felt like I was talking to myself and at anytime some person from the local mental hospital was going to show up and take me away. I tended to only do it when I consciously thought about it, which I am not sure thinking back how much that was.

Ashley did not put a full sentence together beyond a couple of words until she was two. She also didn't say Mama until about 18 months (although she was great at Dada). I honestly didn't worry too much because once she started talking, she didn't freaking stop. The kid talks NONSTOP. I think sometimes she talks just to hear herself. Sometimes she says, "I have to tell you something" which of course I respond to and then she has to sit there and think of something to tell me.

Audrey? Well, this is where we are in BIG trouble. She talks ALOT and she's not even 18 months old yet. She cocks her head and just rattles of a string of incomprehensible words. She can also say a ton of actual words - daddy, mommy, dog, more, cat, no, bye, down, up...and my favorite is when she attempts to say Ashley.

Anyone got an extra set of earplugs to send my way?

Second kid always does things faster than the first. Wait till they're a bit older and they're talking to each other....

Abby talks non-stop also and talked clearly really early. Emily has been slower to talk but all of a sudden her vocabulary has tripled. She's putting 2 words together now "my blanket" "no dog" (her favorite) or "it mine". My only hope is they will enjoy talking to each other and leave me out of the non-stop blabbering! : )

BTW, imagine how hard it's going to be to get the phone when they are teenagers! : )

I agree second and after kids usually talk faster. Izzak was speach delayed and didn't really start talking till almost 3 so when Joshua started saying actual words I was surprised.....he never did really stop talking and once Izzaks was talking? Yeah he didn't either and they all talk in their sleep....I could use earplugs too.

Um, nope. Too busy stuffing the earplugs in my own ears. Same story over here. 2 year old won't shut the heck up. Now 18 month old is freakishly verbally advanced and ALREADY talks a blue streak.

I know they warn you that the second child will do things earlier, but dude, come on! I feel your pain, Amy. I feel your pain.

Man, that's what I have to look forward to?! I don't want Little Man to do things earlier than Bug did, I want to keep him a baby!!

I'm using my earplugs, thank you very much :) Ally has this thing lately where sh'ell say "Mom" to get my attention, and then stop and tell Rob "Mommay and I are talking, you'll have to wait your turn" And then she does the same with Anya. I have to remind her that we aren't actually talking yet. She usually has to scramble to think of something to say.

I'm not too worried that Anya'a not talking too much yet. I know it'll come eventually

OMG, all three of mine talk nonstop!! NONSTOP! Most of Alyssa's is gibberish, but it's still nonstop.

So, I'm keeping my earplugs. Sorry.

SO cute to hear them talk at such a young age...even if it is just nonsense coming out. The best is when you respond to them in nonsense..and they actually attempt to carry on a conversation!! Too cute!!

I think it was John Wayne that said, "Kids: you spend the first year trying to get them to walk and talk and the next 18 telling them to sit down and shut up!" :)

Keven Jr. chatters my ear off ALL the time. He was early to talk and talked well. Isaac on the other hand hasn't been as quick to talk, he's a listener. He just sits back and soaks it all in. I'm waiting for the day that he just starts talking in sentences...

Can't imagine what those two girls are going to be like when they hit their teens :)
