I recently read this post about switching routines and such. In our house, Ray does the morning. I am up and out of the house by 6:45am. On most mornings, the girls aren't even up. And actually if they do get up, it's just that harder to leave. Audrey wants me, and Ashley wants some snuggle time on the couch.
But Ray has the whole thing down to a well oiled machine. He even makes Audrey an omelete every morning as that seems to be the only thing she will eat for breakfast. They are dropped off at school at 8:30am every.single.day. Right on time, no crying fits, all things in the backpacks (he did forget Ashley's bathing suit for water day a few weeks ago, but neither of us realized it was water day), refills of diapers for Audrey if needed, and he pays the biweekly payment to them (which if I told you how much we pay these people, you would choke on your coffee).
How does he do it? He doesn't give in. Me, well, I tend to give in a little. Although a few weeks ago when Ray was out of town, it all worked out. I had the kids to school on time. I had all their stuff. I even remembered my purse which is the first thing I tend to forget. And no, I did not make omeletes. I gave into Ashley pleas to have cinammon rolls which are super easy to make and Audrey ate them as well.

He does it so well BECAUSE he does it :)
It's amazing the little routines that we have that we are good at, and yet the other one tries it and it's more difficult. Hubby usually takes the kids in the morning, but I pack their bags and make sure the check is in there and that kind of stuff. He can do that (he's had to before) but it kind of stresses him out (trying to match outfits, etc.). But it's easy for me. And getting them out in the morning? Kind of stresses me out, but for him, it's a piece of cake!
I can't get passed the fact that Ray makes her an OMLETTE every day. My kids are lucky if their "hot" breakfast is a toaster waffle on the drive to daycare!
OMG. Can I borrow your husband? My husband gets them all up and makes breakfast and dressed, but he's ALWAYS forgetting SOMETHING!
Maybe him and Mitch need to spend more time together....
Hayden's breakfast is typically vitamin enriched frozen pancakes... 45 seconds in the microwave and we're done.
Dave had the morning routine to himself last week. He managed fairly well with everything except putting her hair up. We really need to practice that some more. :)
its nice that you have a balanced relationship everyone can contribute to. if there's one thing I've learned lately its that being married to someone (and living with them) is really. hard. Trevor and I are far from having things down to a science yet, but its nice to see that things might start to run smoothly someday. I guess we can always get seperate apartments, but that seems extreme.
Ray sound like he has it down to a fine art and routine = security. I think I remember reading before how early you leave but what time do you get home?
The cost of childcare in the UK is pretty high as well !!
Man, I'm totally jealous. My hubby wakes Bug up and then leaves. Now I'm going to have 2 to deal with! Can I borrow your hubby for awhile?
Aren't routines great! It just all works!
I wish someone would make me an omlette maybe even once a week.
That is so great that he does the morning routine with the kids. Kelly has done it before also and he gets out quicker then me also.
that was such a cozy read---
I could just picture mornings at your house!!!
what about weekend mornings--- tell us what they are like!
Man, that Ray is one cool dude! Can he come to my house and make breakfast for my kids? They usually eat dry cereal and a gogurt in the car on the way to daycare.
Routines are great when you have them, and usually we are pretty good at what we've got going, but throw a family visit into the mix and it all goes to shit. I'm still trying to find our old routine from when my brother was in town almost 3 weeks ago....
If cinnamon rolls are easy to make, I need your recipe!
LOL my hubs says the same things about me sometimes at my night routine cept hwen he messes it up then when he finally gets it right he's all like but i had them to bed by such and such time..
then im like yeah that was because you didn't let them nap as long for you as you did for me...
men LOL sometimes he does such a wonderful job... sometimes he just drives me crazy *grin* gotta love em though!!
men are good at not giving in, aren't they? ;-)
I am horrible at the morning routine and I've been doing it for 6 years!!!
I am just not a morning person and I am super unorganized!
Tell Ray, I need some tips!
