Weird Stuff

I see some pretty weird stuff sometimes at work. Being at the largest hospital in the area, we attract all sorts of people. I have been asked for money on more than one occasion. I see way too many kids walking around barefoot in a hospital where they require us to cover our food if we take it from the cafeteria to our offices (plenty of stuff floating around the air I am sure). I have seen an entire family get into an elevator, all gnawing on chicken legs, from the littlest 2 year old to Grandma.

A few weeks ago, I was about a quarter mile from work when I saw a man in his hospital gown and slippers walking down the side of the road. I guess he didn't like his service of care....

I see prisoners, both Federal and State. Some in shackles on their feet and hands, orange and white striped uniforms. Some are escorted by one guard, others by many.

But this morning? This takes the cake. I drove onto campus and standing in full view of everyone right next to the visitor parking garage and one of the employee lots was a man with his hands down his pants. Doing his own thing. Not what I wanted to see. By the time I parked and walked into work, he was gone. I am guessing one of our police officers found him (or at least I am hoping).

So what's the weirdest thing you have seen at work? Or at the mall? Or anywhere else for that matter?

I saw PLENTY of weird stuff when I worked at a male maximum security prison for three years. My last job for the State, my office was in the city so, also saw plenty of strang things.

Another place I see strangeness? Wal-Mart. :)

Interesting way to start your day.

oh my. not something I'd like to see. strangest thing - how about yuckiest? I used to do an audit downtown and had to step over pee and poop on my way in each day that the homeless left in the doorway.

I don't think I could top that!

Ha this reminds me of back in the early 60's when I was a student nurse and we were pretty naive back then. My friend was doing her first bed bath and as she was washing this rather dishy patient he was saying to her a bit lower, bit lower and she suddenly realised the towel was standing erect! we often laughed about this afterwards.

Holy Cow!! That's not a nice site to see!!

I don't think I could come up with anything better than that. I work in a pretty tame place. We do have a GUY here who likes to wear skirts in the summer time. Also, we have a couple of folks who have had a sex change that work here.

Yours takes the cake though.

Before we moved to our current location, our offices were located in a pretty bad area. From my second floor office window we used to be able to see prostitutes plying their trade in the parking lot across the street.

Yeah, real pretty.

Oh like I always say, you can't make up the stuff that happens in my day. One of the best was the woman who came in off the street rather out of breath... She told me that she'd been trying to call our office all day but since our phones were out she couldn't get a hold of us. She went on to say that she was a Clinical Sexologist and she was opening a vibrator store (I know and I'm sorry) in a week and desperately needed our help.

LOL - The lady with the toy store was desperate and needed our help... Gotta love it.

Not me personally, but one day on Kevin's walk to work (in downtown Chicago) there was a homeless man sitting on the sidewalk and he caught glimpse of a very large homeless woman coming down the street. When she passed by, he jumped up, ran over to her, and kicked her square in the ass, yelled a few profanities, and ran away. All the while the woman was standing there screaming at the top of her lungs.

Gotta love city life.

As a college student I worked for Univ of Colorado Housing dept. One summer the university hosted a very large religious men's conference. These men stayed in the dormitories and some of the buildings were open to them for meetings & lectures. Walking across campus I saw one of the conference attendees peeing on the side of the building, because using the restroom *inside* the dorm was too far.

That same summer, a conference attendee was found in the women's locker room at a local rec center. Apparently the religious conference hadn't covered peeping toms not really being an acceptable behavior.

How interesting!! I don't see anything - I work from home. The most I see is the woman next door in her ugly ass bathrobe who insists on wearing it outside all day long even when it is 100 degrees, lol.

We had a piece of artwork catch on fire at work - the light shinning on it shorted out. That was kind of random.

I have seen some strange ones...some kids enjoying themselves in class to pregnancy tests in bookbags. This one takes the cake....a girl went to McDonalds for breakfast before school. She didn't finish her chocolate milk. Her family drops her off at school and half way through the day she claims that her coat is messy - it turns out that she put the milk in her coat pocket....without the milk container. So her lined pockets held it for a little while, but needless to say it started to soak through. Not sure I will ever have a story that beats that one!

uhhh i was going to say i've seen men "rearrange" themselves at eye level in front of me while i was sitting down, a guy who i would swear had a nose candy addiction for as many times as he sniffed and wiped his nose for no apparent reason, and guys who plain walk around with their hands tucked into their waist band a la Al Bundy, granted its not gross, but still.. get your hand out of there!

Oh blech.

Someone walked into my office one day, clutched their chest, and fell onto our receptionist's desk. They were having a heart attack.

Gah, that was nuts.

These days I see machine guns and razor wire every day, and oddly? It doesn't bother me anymore.

i with seeing a male with hands down his pants (or up his pant leg) was unusual in my line of work. at least I can be grateful the males are only 4.

the governor came to our school to give a speech about pre-school for all 4 year olds in the state and we had to decorate before her came. the art teacher was working on silhouettes of the children and I was helping her, we did cute poses and stuff, it was fun. we showed some to our assistant principal to get her approval and she asks us "can't you make one look more chinese??" freaking silhouettes, honestly.

I worked for muliple doctors offices and urgent cares and my last job and several where in or near hospitals so I understand what you are talking about when seeing odd things! Honestly though I try to block those things out so I'm not going to relive them....well except the person who came into the urgent care....instead of ER with a fish hook in his eye.....

I saw five guys die in a mining accident once. Actually that's not completely true, they were already dead when we got there.

I've seen 6 year olds peeing on trees at recess because their parents never taught them it was unacceptable behavior.Ah, the teaching life.
