BOB Giveaway!!

Most of my family, including my husband, will tell you I am a little bit psycho about TV and the amount of time my kids watch TV. Growing up, I didn't watch TV except for Saturday morning cartoons. I was either outside playing in the sandbox, torturing my brother, reading books, or playing in my room. My imagination was vivid. Luckily, Ashley has taken my imagination. She will play for HOURS with figurines and dollhouses and such. When we left Disney last Friday, I had spur of the moment bought her a little Minnie Mouse Polly Pocket thing. She literally played with that the ENTIRE drive home. Seriously.

So with TV, I don't want my kids to watch much of it. Ideally, I would like to regulate it to only an hour a day. They watch TV in the mornings prior to breakfast. I know Ray turns it off while they eat. On Saturday and Sundays, we are a little lax about it, but it doesn't stay on all morning.

When we get home from work and school, if Ray isn't home already, I let them watch one 30 minute show while I get dinner ready. And then it's not on again, not even for Ray and I to watch the news. Ashley hears everything, and I really don't want her watching stuff she isn't ready to hear. Ray and I can catch the news after they go to bed.

When I got an email asking to review BOB, I was estatic. I had read other reviews about the product and knew what it did.

How BOB works:
- Plug it into anything that has a screen (TV, computer).
- You can manage up to six "users" on it.
- You set limits, either daily or weekly or hourly, and when the limit is reached, BOB shuts the TV or computer off.

It's really that easy. Will I be using this device? Absolutely. Great product, and guess what? You can win one right here....just leave a comment (I will leave comments open until Friday, November 2) and you will be entered into a drawing to receive a BOB device for free. Good for U.S. residents only, and I will use random.org to generate the winner. And if you mention this giveaway on your blog, that would be greatly appreciated!

And for those who don't win, BOB is offering $10 off and free shipping through 12/31/07. Just use FamilyStory as the code at checkout.

That is really cool!!

I, too, don't have the tv on too much. Saturdays are the worst, but during the week, the only thing we watch is Dancing with the Stars! :) And we watch it so slowly, that it lasts almost all week! :)

Great review.

Oh...I think I would love this! I too try to limit the TV time and this would be a great way to teach Ashlyn that time is up and you are all out of tv minutes.

Wow. Too cool. I know when you have many children it makes it easier to know they are safe. sounds like something to keep the violence down too.

This? Is amazing... What a great idea... We use parental controls on the televisions, but still I remember my friend sitting there all day while her parents were gone going through codes to figure it out so she could watch MTV. Kids are just like that.

BOB would rock in my house. Definitely something to put on my wishlist. Two 3 year olds and a 4 year old totally makes me the BAD guy when it's time to shut the tv off.

Thanks for sharing with us (where can I sign up for that product review? lol). Totally sharing this on my blog!!

I could totally use that. Mike thinks even the dogs need the freaking TV on, so it literally stays on all the time. I hate hate HATE it. At least he leaves in on disney or cartoons, but that means Caleb watches it. Frustrates the crap out of me. So if we had BOB, I might be able to convince him to use it. That way Caleb's brain won't turn to mush. Pretty cool that you get to review it!

BOB sounds cool! I didn't have a television when I was a kid so I tend to be picky about what they watch. During the day when they are home its only educational tv such as the history channel or discovery channel.

Good for you. kids watch to much tv for sure. When I was little I got to watch the Micky MOuse Club after school -- and not much else.

Very cool. My husband and I tried, unsuccessfully, having No Internet Tuesdays to cut back on our surfing time. BOB would probably help. :)

Enter me in the drawing please! This sounds like an excellent device!

We already have daily limits but enforcement is often an issue.
