I believe in wishes on shooting stars and lucky pennies. I believe in lucky numbers, horoscopes, and soul mates. I hold my breath when I drive by a cemetary.
I also believe in the magic of Disney. For those of you who go to Disney and just see it as an amusement park, you are missing a huge piece of the experience. For those of you who go and complain about the crowds, the prices, the heat, you are missing the point. What Walt Disney created was beyond rides and shows, crowds and prices. It's the whole experience. It's hidden Mickeys and a Year of a Million Dreams. It's being sprinkled with fairy dust; it's seeing the afternoon parade...
I cry when I walk into Magic Kingdom for the first time on vacation. Heck, I cry just watching a show on the Travel Channel about Disney. Call me a sap, I don't care.
My first trip to Disney World was in 1993 when my Dad and my Stepmom took my brother and I. I also went that year with the band in high school for Magic Music Days. I don't remember alot about those trips.
I do remember a ton from my honeymoon. Ray and I spent part of our week in Disney after getting married. Then we went back the next year for our first anniversary. Then we went back the next year for a week with two other couples. Then we went back in May of 2002 and purchased a timeshare with Disney. All of those trips I have great memories and pictures.
But all of those trips were adults only. And they were great, we saw shows, ate great food, partied at Pleasure Island.
What is amazing is taking kids and seeing the "world" through there eyes. Ashley loves Disney. No, Ashley loves Disney. She can't wait to go. And Audrey? I can't wait for her face the first time she sees Mickey Mouse. Or JoJo. Or a real, live Princess...
Because kids still believe in Magic....they think Tinkerbell really flies from the castle, they watch fireworks in amazement...
I am sure I will cry. Hell, I'm crying now.
Only one more day until we leave...

Awww, I have tears in my eyes!!! We spent last night searching UTube for videos from Disney and the kids had a blast seeing where we were going to go! They saw the princesses and splash mountain (which is great, since they're not big enough to actually ride it yet).
Maybe some year both of our families can go at the same time!
I LOVE this post!! I can't wait to go to Disney with Morgan and my nephew in two years!! I'm sure I'll be e-mailing you for tips :)
Have a wonderful time!
It will so be worth every penny! Remind me how long you'll be gone again? You'll be missed and I'm so jealous.
Can I go with you?
I CAN'T WAIT TOO!!!!!!!
Since I live so close, I honestly don't even think about it much. It's wonderful to hear about it from someone who loves it so.
I hope you have a GREAT time!
I believe in magic, too.
clap you hands....
you made me cry....beautiful! Have a great time!
BTW, great blog!
That kinda made me tear up as well! I hope you guys have the best vacation ever and I know Audrey is gonna love it as much as you want her to!
You'll have a really great time and we'll look forward to lots of pictures when you return.
How inspirational! I have never been to Disney, but it is a dream one day to have enough money to do that with my kids (You know before the princess no longer hold the same power!). I hope you all have a grand and fabulous time!
It WILL be amazing. You are right...there is something about taking them while they still believe in the magic of it. We always said that we would take ours when they were a little older, but when they were 6, 4, and 3, I told Jeff that we needed to take them while they were still really little. I'm SO GLAD that we did.
I had already been to Disney twice when Jeff and I got married. Then, after being married for one year, the two of us went together. It was an amazing experience when we went alone, but did not compare to what it was like to see the looks on our children's faces when we took them. We took them back when they were 10, 8, and 7. While it was a different experience in a way, it was equally amazing!
I know you will have a wonderful time. I cry when I walk into the Magic Kingdom, as well as when I watch the fireworks over the castle at the end of the day.
It IS all about the experience!!!
HAVE FUN!
I agree, Disney is special. I wish I had some kids so I could take em and experience it all over again!
My first trip to disney was in high school, with the band. that was the trip when I met my future husband.
Just wanted to be one of the first to wish you a "Magical Happy Birthday" tomorrow. Have a wonderful trip - you have kids now so don't do what you and SJ did when you went to Disney with "The Mighty Vikings Marching Band". Did they still call it that when you were a part of it? (they did when I went to school there)
Great post!
I agree, I live in Fl not too far at all from there and can not get enough of Disney World! We love it & truly feel like when were there it is the most magical place on earth.Sounds cheesy but I never tire of the looks in my kids eyes!
P.S~
I just came back from a weekend there & The haunted mansion ride has changed-You must ride it!!
Take Care & have a blast! :)
You have passion - I love that.
I have only been to Disney a few times and don't really remember that much, I can't wait to take my kids and experience it with them.
You are going to have a great time, can't wait to hear all about it!
Hope you have a wonderful time, but I'm sure from your excitement and your love for everything Disney that you will :)
Can't wait to hear all about it!
