Audrey is little...

Audrey had her two year appointment yesterday and she is so not like her sister. Ashley was and still is off the charts for height and weight. Ray's Mom is really tall (6 ft, or really close to it) and so is his brother. We are assuming Ashley is taking after them.

Audrey, not so much.

First off, with her cast that must weigh at least a pound, she only weighs 24 pounds. That's the 17%. And she is only 33.5 inches tall, 35%. Her pediatrician wasn't too concerned, but she wants us to give her more substantial food at snack time. Right now, both of the girls love rice cakes for snacks. That is what they eat on the weekends most of the time. That or goldfish. I guess I need to incorporate cheese, turkey, bread? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

And her asthma. She was diagnosed last spring with allergy induced asthma. But now, we aren't so sure it's just allergy induced. We have a long hallway upstairs in our house, with the playroom at one end and our bedroom at the other, and the girls' bedrooms and bathrooms off that hallway. In the evenings, Audrey will often run up and down that hall. And she often ends up in a coughing fit at the end of it. Her pediatrician also wants her on Flovent breathing treatments twice a day. We had stopped those when we stopped giving her Zyrtec in November for allergies. But I guess we are back on it for good now. She will go back in three months for an evaluation of her asthma.

And I now officially hate winter. Not only was there freezing rain and stuff this morning, but Ashley has a stomach bug. She hasn't kept anything down since around 2:00pm, but she's asleep now. Ray and I will switch off staying home with her tomorrow as a)work is nuts for me right now for no real good reason and b)Ray' partner on his real estate team is on a "blue grass" cruise right now, so Ray is working his clients and his partner's. And of course I am supposed to leave on Thursday for Virginia, so keep your fingers crossed that the great stomach bug of '08 will remain with just Ashley and will end tonight.

Sorry to hear about the asthma- I hope things look good when you go back in 3 months. Also sorry about the stomach bug...never fun. Here's hoping it doesn't spread to everyone!

how about a mini pizza made with pepperoni or sausage. just get some english muffins and leave them in the freezer, pop them in the toaster, or put them on a baking sheet and top with ingredients and bake for a couple of minutes. the kids could even help make them. otherwise, how about yogurt pups/tubes or string cheese? yours aren't allergic to peanuts are they? peanut butter on a banana?

what about apples with fat free caramel dip, or peanut butter toast?

I got my fingers crossed for you!

And for the life of me I can't think of any snacks that are substantial. My kids eat lots of yogurt, string cheese and dry cereal at snacktime....

My Em was 27 pounds at age 3, very short, very tiny frame. And she eats like a pig. Our girls can shop in the petite section together someday, right? Her favorite "snack" lately has been eating a bowl of cereal. Can't blame her, mom likes cereal too. At least I know some of the vitamins are covered, and she's getting milk...maybe your little darlin would be up for that, huh?

What about Nutrigrain bars - my girls love the apple cinnamon? We also do carrotts and peppers cut up with a Dill Dip or Full Fat Ranch Dip? Quaker Granola Bars - they have chewy ones? Adding Olvatine to milk?

GOOD LUCK! I hope the bug stays put and the work slows down.

Oh that sucks about Audrey's asthma! Poor baby :(

I really hope the bug stays away from you (well, and the rest of the family).

How about drinkable full fat yogurt? Does she still like drinkable yogurt? High fat cheese cubes, sticks. Tigger likes baked Lay's potato chips. Pudding cups. Toast with peanut butter (if she's allergic to peanut butter, try soy or almond butter). Full fat milk at every meal.

Flovent works really, really well with Eeyore - it has gotten her asthma completely under control.

So what's the occasion for the trip to VA?

my youngest is a little guy too -- 5th percentile at last checkup..we go for 18months in 2 weeks. But he eats like a pig.

Sorry about the stomach bug -- ick. Good luck.

I wish that I could help with the snacks! Lani is so darn picky and our snacks usually consist of some kind of cracker or dry circle. Every once in a while I can sneak a fruit or soy yogurt in there:)

Sorry to hear about her asthma getting worse. Hopefully you will be able to get that all under control.

My grandbaby has had that stomach bug too. He'll be visting the doctor again today as he still can't keep food down. He's nursing again but no food. :( He is like your Ashley and under everything too.

My 8 month old weighs 23 pounds and is 30.5 inches tall... But he is a moose.

My daughter had asthma issues very similar to that and she grew out of them, so I wish the same for you guys.

Well, she beat Alyssa! Poor Ashley, I hope the stomach bug goes away soon!

I hate that about the asthma. I worry about that with Alyssa too since she has allergies. It is so funny to me how alike those two are!

Yikes - asthma sucks and it sucks worse when one of your babies has it I'm sure.

How about full fat yogurt-cicles, pitas with hummus or peanut butter, banana-PB mini sandwiches, smoothies with lots of fatty milky goodness in them...need more? I'm a foodie - just email me!

Little isn't bad....neither of my girls have ever gotten past 10% on either chart!

Sorry about the asthma, Kenzie has that also and has treatments she does everyday. Hopefully Audreys will get better as she gets older. Kenzies is better then it was when she was 2.

Hope Ashley gets over that stomach bug soon! And no one else gets it!
