I was always the little girl that told her Mom that I didn't want to be like her, that I was going to grow up and move away and be independent.
And Ashley is definitely independent, it's just to me she is still so little and well, when she still calls for me to help her out in the bathroom, I think that she will never want to leave me.
Until last night. I was putting her to bed and getting extra snuggle time. I told her she would always be my little girl. To which she replied -
"No I won't. When I grow, I am going to move away."
Nice. And I have no idea where she got that from.

I now have Kelly Clarkson's "Miss Independent" stuck in my brain.
:)
my son declared that he is going to marry Emily. Ally and Brianna...and all live with us...wonder which scenario is better?!?!
Kids!
Being a "big girl" sounds so good when you're little, I guess, huh?
I always told my parents I was going to move to California when I grew up. Well, guess what? I live about 10 minutes away from them and see them nearly every day! I don't think they mind that I didn't move 3,000 miles away, though. :)
Jane, Pinks & Blues
Awh, I don't know where my kids get some of the things they say either- but they do continue to crack me up!
She's definitely little "Miss Independent"!
:)
I love the independent and was always that way too. However, I live 2 hours from my folks and talk to them every day, sometimes many times. It's good to be independent as long as you don't lose your connections! ;-)
thats hilarious... at least she has goals.
It's funny but sad at the same time. Because, it's true. :(
That makes me sad. :(
I always say "why can't my kids ask for their dad to help" - last night Ashlyn yelled for daddy and I was a bit sad. I guess we can't have it both ways :(
I say CONGRATULATIONS to you! You are doing such a good job - and the job is raising independent responsible children.
Heartbreaking... but you should be proud :)
I'm finding out now....my daughter is more like me than I had ever thought she would be! Sounds like you are learning the same...at a very young age!
Oh no! That's hard to hear when they are still so little.... :(
It is a bit early for boarding school so you have a few years to change her mind...
Ahh...out of the mouths of babes! :)
