My Tattoos...

Yes, I have two of them. No, I was not drunk when I got them.

My first one I got in college. My friend Jaki was getting a tattoo (of Mickey Mouse no less) and I wanted one as well. I wanted something small and somewhere not visible when wearing normal clothes as I wasn't quite sure how my parents would take it. I ended up getting a gecko lizard on my stomach, close to my right hip. And why no picture of that tattoo? I have a lovely stretch mark going right through the darn thing.

I am not a creative person when it comes to stuff...I can definitely follow directions and make curtains and find creative ideas for birthday parties and such, but coming up with ideas on my own doesn't normally happen. I guess with the tattoos I have I feel like they are a creative representation of myself on me.

The second tattoo I got almost a year ago. My friend Julie and I went to Virginia Tech for the weekend. I completely trusted the place I had my first one done, so we stopped by there again when we were there. I wanted something on my shoulder, something small to represent the music side in me. I ended up with a treble clef.

Every once in a while, I will hear someone say something derogatory about tattoos, like "look at those, how disgusting" or "who would be stupid enough to do that". I think it's all about expression. I wouldn't ever go and get a tattoo on my face, but I am not going to be critical of those who do. To each his own.

And yes, Ashley has asked me why my tattoos don't come off like hers. I went into detail how a needle was used to put ink into my skin. I am pretty sure that killed all ideas of her getting one in the near future.

I think it's cool that you have tats!

I have two small tattoos also. I love them. I got them way before tattoos became the in thing to do--I got my first one nearly 16 years ago and my second one 15 years ago. I have to agree that people certainly are judgemental about tattos.

I am happy to know that I am in such awesome tattoo having company.

I think it is funny when I hear people badmouth them too. I'd say 90% of people would never know I have one in regular day to day life. Love the story!

It cracks me up when people bad mouth tattoos around me. I take great pleasure in telling them I have six and watching their faces!

Way cool that you enjoy both of your tats, and that you were smart to get them where they are easily hidden! Wish all of mine were!

Thanks for sharing- mine's up if you want to stop by!

....and....as I recall....we left that first time with a tattoo on you but not on me! I chickened out! Then we drove all the way back there again so I could go through with it! It was a birthday present to me from you! I never look at my tattoo when I don't think of you and that adventure! Thanks for the permanent birthday present and memories! I still love it and will never regret having gotten it. Jeremy thinks that it is really cool that I have Mickey Mouse on my hip!

I think your treble clef is super awesome, and it means something special to you so that makes it even better!

I also have a pre-pregnancy belly tattoo that can't ever been shown in public again ... I'm glad I'm not alone.

What a great tattoo story!

Jason has a tribal armband and I think it's ridiculously sexy.

I don't have any, but if I did, the treble clef would be appropriate. A good friend got mother-daughter tattoos when her daughter went to college. They're very tasteful and artistic -- as are yours!

i myself have 5 tats (i also was not drunk but did find it a little addicting after the 1st). i have no pics cause i am too fat and the camera adds 10 pounds (and who needs that, eh?). i have heard the same types of remarks made by people regarding tats but i dont care. everyone i have is for a reason important to me and all but one is visible (well that one is visible too but mostly just to my hubby-its what the "mean people" call a tramp stamp---tramp-HA)

The treble clef is a great idea - I dont have one that reflects my personality so to say. I may have to get another one for that purpose...oooh and I already have an idea.

I love small tattoos too and trying to think of something that will represent my girls around my ankle.

Too cute about your daughter!

I am always surprised by people who have them. Not sure why, other than that whole pre-conceived notion that everyone with them must be bikers. LOL
Although I wouldn't personally get a tattoo (I'm terrified of needles!!!), I would be a biker. So, there you go. LOL

Yours sound well chosen and artistically done. However I have to admit that I have seem some disgusting ones.. whew.

But times change -- gram thought that pierced ears were quite "wanton" -- she would roll over in her grave if she knew where some people get pierced now.

I love tatoos...on other people. :) I'm too chicken to get one of my own but I think they are pretty cool. I've seen some great ones. We live in a Naval town and quite a few people have them.

I have 3. Peace Mickey on my left ankle, Mickey "head" anklet on my right leg, and infinity band on my ring finger. I love all of them. I wanted my first when I was 17. I said if I still want it when I'm 25, I'll get it. Happy 25th birthday to me! Had the exact same talk with my kids as you did. They even watched us get our wedding band tattoos for a little bit so they could see how it "works."

Tattoos are like chips - you can't have just one :-)
