What I am really like

I tend to write about my kids and some have expressed an interest in me. Why don't I write about me more? I think I'm pretty boring. Run of the mill working Mom. Nothing exciting. But here are some insights:

  • I like clothes shopping, but I hate shifting through racks and racks of clothes. It had better jump right out and hit me in the face.
  • I feel the guilt of being a working mom every.single.day. Who doesn't? But I work through it and when I pick my kids up from school and they are happy and smiling and I realize, hey, they didn't watch TV for like 8 hours, I am happy.
  • I try to be funny when I'm pretty sure I'm not.
  • I was in a coed fraternity in college. That's how I met Ray.
  • I am a really good friend and would do anything for my friends, but what girl wouldn't?
  • I love movie butter popcorn and mexican food. Seriously, give me a burrito and I will love you forever.
  • I hate watching movies at home. I can watch TV, but no movies. I get bored and fall asleep.
  • I can not stand to be in the house all day without going somewhere, even if it's just to the grocery store or Target. Although I can just drive by Target and $100 flies out of my purse, but whatever...
  • I am psycho about some stuff. I want my family to sit down to dinner every night, without the TV. Which we do for the most part unless Ray has a client meeting. I get mad when Ray tries to go through the mail as we are finishing eating. Everyone.must.sit.for.the.entire.meal. And act all family like.
  • I am a registered Republican. Am I glad the Dixie Chicks got shut out of the CMA's? Honestly, who cares.
  • I like my drinks without ice.
  • Um, I like to play the bassoon? See, I told you I was boring.
Anything else you want to know about me? Ask away...

You're not boring and I so agree about sitting down together for a meal. Saturday is our day for eating in front of the TV the rest of the week we sit and eat together at the table even the three days my hubby is a college the rest of us eat and chat together.

I am totally with you on the eating dinner thing...every night, unless one of us is gone, we are sitting there as an entire family eating.

I too love movie popcorn and Mexican food, although I don't really care for burritos. But give me a taco or some chips and salsa and I'm set! Oh yeah, don't forget the fried ice cream :)

Obviously there with you on the working mom guilt...all the time.

I know just how you feel. I tried for a while to write solely about myself one day of the week, but I even bored myself. My life is "just life". It doesn't seem interesting to me, but that's me. I tend to write about the kids almost exclusively, but I think that, in doing that, more of me shows through than I had intended. Which is a good thing.

That said, it's nice to step back and talk about yourself every once in a while. People *are* interested. And there are far too few Republicans in the blog world, have you noticed that?

You're NOT boring. Of course, I am like you in the driving by Target causes $100 to leave my purse. Hell, THINKING about Target causes $100 to leave my purse!!

The family dinner thing is great. My Mom was the same when my sister and I were growing up. Of course, Dad was always working, so it was just the 3 of us.

The working mom guilt? I'm sure you have it. But, as you said....your kids are happy...that's what matters. You do a great job with work AND home...be proud of that!!

You're not boring, otherwise, we probably wouldn't read!

I also hate going through racks and racks of clothes.

Working mom guilt? You're right. Who doesn't?

I really don't like movie theatre butter, I'd rather my popcorn be plain. (See, I'm the boring one) But I loooooove Mexican food!

I also still like the Dixie Chicks, and all I gotta say about the whole situation surrounding them is: Get over it already! Gah!

I have another question for you. Are you done having kids or do you want more?

Also, I'm a registerd Democrat.

Not boring!

I love Mexican food too.

I am registered as neither a Democrat nor Republican but I vote in every election.

That's a really good list.

It says a ton about you.

I wish I had the dinner luxury. When your husband is retail management...EVERY night is maybe 3 times a week but I do insist on it when he's home.

POPCORN & MEXICAN FOOD- I LOVE YOU AMY!

I on the other hand am democrat, love the Dixie Chicks if they'd only stick to singing, they really shouldn't be allowed to speak and LOVE to watch movies at home.

I think that last part comes from being due with your children

Aug. 26th
and Aug. 17th

(Even if you ended up on bedrest in May)

SO I watched plenty of movies in the AIRCONDITIONING the summer I was pregnant with Kyle then again while on bedrest with Casey.

The working Mom thing...I struggle...and I struggle bad. So we're in the same club.

Okay- you had me laughing out loud about Target! I can so relate- I can NEVER leave there without spending under $100.00 bucks! It is much worse when the kids are w/me though..Why are we all so magnetized to that store??

I agree w/ everyone- else, Your not boring one bit-If I had to write about myself- you all would be asleep by now! LOL!

Also- We must all always eat dinner together-Everyone sits down too..
Take Care!

Hey this was a great idea for an entry! I may steal it one day, if you don't mind.

Also, I am right there with you about eating dinner as a family with no tv. When Kevin is not working late, that is...

I'd eat a Burrito with you any day. Mexican is my all time favorite food. And sitting around the house - I can't do it. I must have at least 1 outting a day on the weekends. I'm also with you on the movie watching at home. Last week Husband and I tried to watch 3 movies on 3 different nights - I fell asleep during all of them.

Why are Virginia Tech players called Hokies? What is a Hokie.

It's not spelled like Hokey as in Hokey Pokey, so I'm quite sure they aren't part of a song.

Boring? YOU?
I don't think so.
You sound like a whole bunch of fun to me.

And now.....I'm hungry.

I actually think you are very interesting! It's good to know that dinner and eating as a family together is a high priority...not too many families do that anymore. It was always enforced when I was a kid and even to this day when I go visit my parents..we still have to eat together!

Hmmm...movie popcorn! Nuff said :)

It's good to write about yourself every now and then! It makes you feel good about yourself..doesn't it??

Great post!
