I know it's April 11...

And no, we haven't done our taxes. Anyone want to help us out? Here's a little glimpse into our complicated taxes this year:

  • Two states
  • Rental property with LOSSES
  • We have a limited liability company (don't ask)
  • Dividends paid
  • Ray is self employed, pays quarterly taxes
  • Ray has to figure out his mileage and business expenses and who knows what else
  • Children and daycare costs (okay, that's not really all that complicated)
  • Home office

Who knows what else I am forgetting. And yes, I am an accountant, but not a CPA and definitely not a tax accountant.

I see an extension in our future...

Ugh, I got stressed just reading your post. Taxes always get me worked up and I dread them big time. Good luck!

I'm so glad ours aren't too complicated. And done. 2 states always is a pain in the butt, and if I remember right, Virginia's wasn't too great all by itself anyway. So I'll wish you luck too!

I'm so right there with you! We haven't finished our taxes yet either! And I hate how everyone assumes that just because you're an accountant (or even a CPA) that you know or like to do taxes. I HATE THEM!!! So, I'm totally feeling your pain!

I just love my very uncomplicated tax returns and I hope they continue!

While I despise doing our taxes and the obnoxious amount of money paid in taxes compared to the crappy refund, I am SO grateful for them after reading your post!!

Perhaps a trip to Target will lessen the stress factor? Just a thought!!

No, I have no advice, except to wish you well. The only responsiblity that I take for our taxes is signing my name and the willingness to go to jail if needed. (The going jail thing is not a great sacrifice as we try to meet all of our responsibilities so there is no jail time in my future.)

Oh heavens...your taxes would make me fall down and creep into a fetal position.

GOOD LUCK! (Sound like you could use it.)

What does Ray do? Self-employed..how did I not know this...

I've got to finish mine too, but they are 99.99 percent finished, thank God.

good luck with the taxes. I hate taxes thats why we have someone else do it for us. We've made to many mistakes in the past

LLC? Why?

That really doesn't sound too bad. Believe me, we've got more complicated ones here. Are you hiring a CPA?

EXTEND...and dearie, would it help if you were organized as an S-corp?

I hire a CPA out of Dallas - and even though I finally owe this year, you would be AMAZED at what an S-corp can deduct!!

Not sure what kind of accountant you use...but seriously, if you own a business, it pays to get professional help.
