Nights

There are some nights, every once in a while, Ashley wakes up crying hysterically and is pretty much inconsolable. We can't get her to tell us what's wrong, let alone calm down. Eventually we give her a drink of anything and she calms down and goes back to sleep. Maybe its a dream, maybe she just woke up funky. Who knows.

Last night it started about 10:45pm. She was dead tired and hadn't napped yesterday. I think that has something to do with it. Anyways, I tried to calm her down my giving her drink of my soda. She only wanted more and cried for about an hour. Nothing at that point was calming her down. Finally, I sat on the floor in her room and she crawled into my lap and fell asleep.

She was so big laying across my legs...yet she's only three. It scares me to think she's going to be four in a few months...I want to always feel like she can crawl in my lap and go to sleep.

Awww, that is so sweet. I think it is something as parents we all want. I was watching some show yesterday and the parents were talking about how loving their son was when he was 3 or 4 and now he tried to kill them (don't ask, it was a crime show of some sort). they just kept saying they wished it was 10 years ago because they miss their son (he is 15 and tried to kill them at 14!!). Anyhoo... scary story, but my point is (and yes, I have one), is that we just have to cherish the days we have with them while they are young and hope they always feel like coming back to mommy even when they're like 30, lol.

Sorry she was having a hard night last night... My kids still crawl up with me and fall asleep and I still love it. Izzak crawled up next to me yesterday on the couch and fell asleep leaning on me and he is almost 12. Which by the way if totally freaking me out for some reason.

Well, that made me cry. She will always be able to crawl into your lap and fall asleep, maybe not literally, but always figuratively. You never get too old to need your mom, rest assured!

Poor kid :(

Regardless of how big she becomes, she will always be able to crawl into your lap and go to sleep. Hell, I'm twenty-beep beep years old and I want to lay my head on my mom's lap and sleep :)

Sounds like night terrors to me. She was probably afraid to go back to sleep without you there. Have you ever asked her about it in the morning....does she remember it happening??? Maybe she could tell you she had a bad dream.

Poor little thing :( And like everyone else has said, she will still be able to crawl into your lap no matter how big she gets! It sounds kind of like night terrors to me...mention it to the pediatrician at her 4 year-old check-up.

Jonathan, age 9, still crawls into my lap to sit periodically. I dread the days he won't want to!

Thank you. You are a star volunteering to host the next fun monday. I've put a link on the end of my post. By the way it's not really too late to publish for this week (no pressure) if you feel like it.

My oldest son had night terrors & it was truly scary! He would wake-up screaming & not even recognize or hear us talking to him- It was if he was in a trance & could not get out of this night terror for over an hour! We tried everything! It really scared me, We ended up changing his sleep schedule a bit(he was 2 & had stopped napping) & eventually they went away..It was a truly horrifying experience!

It doesn't sound like a night terror she is having-maybe just nightmares or crying because she woke up out of a dead sleep still really tired? Monkey D does that a lot when he gets woken up..Anyway- I hope it goes away for you both & I agree they will never get to old of needing their moms..
