Happy Birthday....in the dark

Thanks for all the suggestions yesterday...I am going to use them all! I had one person email me with another great suggestion that I thought I would share with everyone. When you stop to eat, you eat and let the kids run around like madmen. Then have them eat in the car. Great idea for those places like Chick-fil-a that has those playground things (which I totally hate but for the sake of sanity, I will let my kids go in them).

Onto other things...today is Ray's Dad's birthday. Who Ray is named after. Who the girls call "Papa Mocha" (their dog is named Mocha). Who Ray and I call "The Muffin Man" as he is the Bakery Manager at a BJ's Wholesale club store. Happy Birthday Old Man!

And yes, I am in the dark. At work. Since this is the second (or third? I've lost track) of oppressive 100 degree heat (four days we have hit the record of 105, including yesterday), they have asked those of us at the hospital who are not in direct patient care to turn off lights and save energy, especially between the hours of 1:00pm and 9:00pm. So here I sit, working at my laptop with only my desk lap on. It's actually kind of nice, but also kind of sleep inducing. Zzzzzzzzzzzz. Wake me when it's time to go home.

Lord, I hate those places too. We let the kids play at the BK one the other day for a few minutes while it was empty but made them stop when some big out of control kids came in (no parents in site). and in those few minutes, their socks got BLACK!

I DREAD the days when Morgan asks to play in those things. Makes me gag and twitch thinking of what's in there.

Sucks about the heat and being in the dark. Here in NY? Day four of it being cool for this time of year--40's at night and 60's during the day. I'm wearing jeans and a lightweight long sleeve hoodie today.

I'll shut up now.

I've been thinking how nice it is to have it hot today and it's only around 75. I would be flaked out at a 100+, working in semi-darkness must seem a bit weird , on the plus side maybe no one will notice if you take forty winks!!

We let the kids run around like that too. We always try to eat in the car, becasue it keeps them occupied when they can't move.

I would edfinitely be asleep though. I haven't slept enough the last couple days and having the lights out would be the final straw. But it's cool that the hospital is trying to help where they can.

I try my best not to go to places with those things!

We've been keeping almost all the office lights off and the a/c turned way to far up for about 3 weeks now. Our building's entire breaker blew one day and we've been like this since!

The balls are the worst. (If you are snickering...shame on you!) You never know what's hiding under the pit of colorful plastic bubbles- dirt, bugs, old food, I heard once someone found a syringe!

And Happy Birthday Muffin Man! (I bet he got a free cake too, didn't he!)

Happy Birthday to Ray's Dad! And I have a love/hate relationship with those play yard things...

But the kids just find them so fun.

And I feel for you in regards to the weahter, I really do! Fall is upon us :)

I've never been a fan of those places either but like you said when you have kids that need to run it doesn't seem so bad!

I would have a hard time working in the dark, it would make me sleepy also!
