So Saturday we were getting ready to head out to a museum for the day, and I was pouring Audrey a sipping cup. I filled it halfway with water and was reaching for the apple juice when I tipped it over. Most of the water ended up on Ashley's foot and leg as she was standing right next to me.
And she so calmly said, "Damnit".
To which Audrey replied in a not so calm, not so quiet voice, "DAMNIT".
At least Ashley used the word appropriately.
And no, neither Ray nor I could hide our laughing.

I know that is going to happen to me! The cussing child. Now that's a title of a book.
When about was about 4 I was pushing her around Target in one of those big, dumb carts that two kids can sit in. I slammed it into a display by accident and she yelled "JESUS CHRIST". The old lady nearby did not find it as funny as I did. At least yours are cussing in private - for now! : )
Opps, I mean to say when Abby was 4.
that is always a hard thing to deal with and not laugh.
If only children learned everything else so easily.
Ok, I was in the car with Emily (3) and I said "CRAP!" because well, I missed a turn. So I hear "Crap, crap, crap, crap" no kidding, 10 times non-stop in the back seat. I turned around and said "we shouldn't say that, it's not a good word" and she said "mommy, I said "Quack quack" and started flapping her hands. WHAT-EV-ER!
My kids are picking up our lingo, it's amazing and a bit disturbing. Especially when I hear Emily say "Alyssa, are you the mommy?" everytime Alyssa does something wrong...
Last week I was rushing my 4 year old out of the car and she said, "Jesus!" in the same exasperated tone I've used a million times. I got mad. I hate that I did, but I did. I calmed down and told her that I know she learned it from me and it's my fault, but it's not okay to say "Jesus" like that. She looks like my husband, has a lot of his characteristics, but her impatience, attitude and smartass-ness comes straight from her Mama!
I really have to be careful around Lani now because she is like a little parrot! Copies everything I say.
lol.
I love it! And you want to know why? Because my kids do the same thing!
It is hard not to laugh, especially when they use the bad word properly!!!
When Ashlyn was two she repeated a not so nice work she heard me say...in front of my parents. Needless to say that I was in more trouble then she was!
I think that cuss words are easy to pick up correctly, unfortunately. Sippy cup age is about when they start hearing things and repeating them in context :/.
Now THAT's funny!! I can just see that one happening now! :)
LOL! Thanks, I needed the giggle!
I was actually just chatting to y sister about this. I had called to tell her that my 17 mon old, Emma, said "shit" while I was on vacation. SWEET! LOL
Well, my sister decided to trump me and tell me that her son (age 2) has 2 new phrases thanks to her husband...
the first... "What the hell?"
the second... " F'ckers"
She wins! UGH
I couldn't help but laugh! Been there and done that. It is so hard not to laugh!!
Hahahah! I'm so glad my child isn't the only one that has picked this up. Jack uses that same word very appropriately.
It's good to know I'm not alone!!!
In the grand scheme of bad words Damnit is probably one that is not too bad. In my opinion anyway. I've heard little kids using way worse and that is just upsetting to hear.
